Shireen Piroja Madon is a biracial Indian-American poet, educator, and editor. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and South Asian Studies from New York University. Her poetry has appeared in or is forthcoming from AGNI, Ploughshares, Witness, Prairie Schooner, Poetry Northwest, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Indiana Review, The Margins, and the anthology The World I Leave You: Asian American Poets on Faith & Spirit, among others. A Kundiman fellow, she has been the recipient of an Amy Award from Poets & Writers and a Bennet Poetry Prize from the Academy of American Poets. She has taught adult literacy and poetry in New York and spent the last decade as an editor for a university press. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
